webJobs 1.2.1 Released
We are excited to announce the release of webJobs 1.2.1! This new version contains several new features, improvements, and bug fixes. For upgrade instructions click here. Some of you may have already received a beta version of webJobs 1.2, the upgrade instructions cover upgrading from the beta version (1.2.0) to 1.2.1. For upgrade instructions see the Upgrading section of our documentation.
So what’s new in webJobs 1.2.1? See the list below!
RSS feeds for new jobs
Site users can subscribe to an RSS feed of the latest jobs posted on the site. The feed is automatically updated every time a job is posted. The number of entries in the RSS feed can be configured from the administrative area.
Microsoft Word and PDF resume upload support
Resumes can now be uploaded in two additional file formats: Microsoft Word (.doc) and PDF. Job seekers can upload these files as they did with regular text resumes.
Improved resume search
Employers can search for resumes by keywords in addition to all the other fields already present. For example, an employer could search for all resumes that had the text “PHP”. This only works for text resumes (not Word or PDF).
Free initial billing items
There is a new section under the System Configurator that will allow you to give employers the ability to sign up with any amount of initial credits of any billing plan. To use this feature, click on ‘Free Billing Items’ under the System Configurator. From there, you are able to enable or disable the feature, select the item to offer to employers, and the initial quantity of this billing item that will be provided at the time of signup.
Character set
Under Site Configuration section of the System Configurator, you will see a field labeled ‘Character Set’. This feature allows you to change the character set of your entire site. Enter in the IANA character set name in this field. For example, webJobs™ is shipped with this set to ‘utf-8′.
State/city data for Australia, Canada, and UK
While webJobs 1.1 had states data for the United States, it did not have a list of state/provinces for other countries such as Australia or Canada. We also did not have major cities for Australia, Canada, or the UK as we did for the United States. We have added this data in v1.2 and it can be accessed from the dynamic country/state/city dropdowns for users.
State/City dropdowns to text
It is now possible to change all of the City and/or State fields of the location dropdowns of all of the site’s forms to be text input rather than a dropdown menu. These options are under Site Configuration section of the System Configurator. To change only the City fields, check the box next to the item labeled ‘Enable City input as text’. To change both the State and City dropdowns, check the box next to ‘Enable both City and State input as text’. Note that checking both of these boxes will have the same effect of changing both State and City dropdowns.
Pending check payment approval
webJobs™ 1.2 has a separate section to handle check payments. This is to allow the administrator to manually approve the billing items once the check(s) have been received. This new section is called Pending Check Payments and is located under the Billing section of the Main Menu. When there are items or jobs that have been paid for by check, they will show up here. The administrator can then choose to approve the item or job, or decline the credits/job posting to the employer.
Administrative password recovery
For the the username or password to your administrative area? No problem! This new addition will e-mail your login information the the e-mail address set in your administrative area.
Field changes
The salary field has been changed to salary range. Instead of having the job seeker specify an exact desired salary he/she can specify a range (such as $40,000-50,000). The End Date field for the job history is also no longer a required field (since a job seeker could still be employed there).
File restrictions
The administrator can restrict the file size of the images uploaded by employers.

While my site is extremely new - I am quite pleased with majority of the features. We are hoping to mail to well over 14,000 job seekers we currently work with in order to populate the board soon.
Other features - that could definitely help would be -
1. Ability to ADD credits to the employers side from the admin panel.
2. Other items that could help this or very similar to this are definitely very doable and I would love to talk to the man - as I may JUST HAVE the right market for you.

Hi Bart,
That’s a great suggestion! I’ll add it to the list of features for a future release. If you’d like to go into more detail about your second request feel free to post it here or e-mail us if you prefer to discuss it privately.
Thanks!

Ref: Field changes
Pay rates:
hourly, weekly, monthly and annually - it defintiely needs a daily rate added too.
Most of the GOVT contract jobs in the Global War on Terror discuss pay in terms of daily. Would be an awesome addition.

Another suggestion is adding:
1. Privacy Policy page - that can be completely edited and customized
2. Terms of Use page that can be completely edited and customized.
3. Ability to add additional pages as necessary under the Smart Options area - as can be seen in our site https://www.gwotjobs.com/ would be an extremely tremendous asset as well.
4. Countries, Provinces and States - easier way to deal with them - perhaps broken down into different areas of the DB - right now they all go into the States for America - which is really confusing.
As much as I hate to say it - once the kinks are worked out - the software is probably a bit too cheap for all the features available. I am very glad it is affordable or I could never have afforded it. At least not yet that is. We will see how the new job board goes and tell you within the next year.
